100 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS, WITH GIRLSTART’S HELP,
TO SKIP STRAIGHT TO COLLEGE THIS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 8
Girlstart partnering with ExxonMobil on 9th annual Take a Girl to College Day
(AUSTIN) - Girlstart, the Austin-based non-profit educational organization committed to
helping pre-teen and teen girls learn and love math, science and technology, will
help 100 Austin-area middle school students skip straight to college (for the day,
at least) with its 9th annual Take a Girl to College Day.
Girlstart, in partnership with ExxonMobil, is hosting the event, designed to inspire
middle school girls to think about math and science career with a day of tours,
laboratory workshops, and one-on-one sessions with current UT students.
ABOUT GIRLSTART
Girlstart is a non-profit organization created to educate and empower girls in math, science and technology. Founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas, Girlstart has an enviable record of engaging, educating, and motivating girls to enjoy and become more proficient in mathematics and science in elementary school, middle school, and beyond. Child Magazine named the organization one of the top five programs for girls across the country. Girlstart offers a variety of educational formats designed for girls ages 9-15 through after-school programs, Saturday camps, and summer day camps. Girlstart serves a population that includes at-risk and minority girls.
