In-person Starry Nights are back for 2024!
Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the first Thursday of every month (except January, June, July, and August), with each month featuring a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. Family members of all ages and genders are welcome!
April hands-on STEM activities:
- Lunar Phases Flipbook: Waxing, waning, or full moon! Animate your own flipbook to understand the physics of moon phases and better identify which part of Earth’s Moon you are seeing in the night sky
- Lunar Orbiter: Design a compact orbiter to travel in space to record the moon’s images, temperature, radiation, and more.
- Moon Catapults: Construct a small level that defies gravity and launches a mini moon into the atmosphere.
- Lunar AR: Use augmented reality (AR) to explore the surface of Earth’s Moon!
- Enjoy star shows in our planetarium all event long!
Reminder: Chaperones are required. Adults must stay with their children throughout the event.
