First, let me just extend our thanks on behalf of everyone at Girlstart to the nearly 300 volunteers and presenters that made this year's Expanding Your Horizons a complete success! It was an amazing experience for all involved, especially the girls. They got to see, up close and personal, some great tricks of the trade in everything from architecture to zoology. We couldn't have done it without the expertise, creativity, and commitment of wonderful women representing such an impressive variety of careers in science, technology, math and engineering.

Also, here's a heads up on the "Take IT Global" Computer Game Showcase! Don't miss this incredible opportunity to see high school girls present their one-of-a-kind video games to the public on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. in the lobby at Silicon Labs.

And, of course, first comes Spring, then comes Summer! We're gearing up for one of our best summer camp seasons ever. Register now for one of our exciting programs specifically designed with girls in mind!

 GIRLSTART EVENTS AND NEWS

Expanding Your Horizons Rocks UT!

Expanding Your HorizonsOver 250 girls from the Central Texas area enjoyed a fun-filled day of hands-on workshops presented by professional woman with math, science, engineering, and technology careers. Girls sutured stuffed animals, programmed robots to walk, learned to take a dog’s heart beat, built the tallest tower out of straws, and more!!! Alexis Jones, current Survivor: Micronesia contestant and motivational speaker, kicked off the day by empowering and challenging the girls to Dream Big. One participant said that the best thing about EYH was “[having] fun while learning activities that help us with our career choosing.”

Each camp is Monday through Friday, from 8:30am-4:30pm at the Girlstart Tech Center in Austin, TX. EYH Volunteers Give Back in a BIG WAY!

VolunteersEYH Volunteers Give Back in a BIG WAY!
Expanding Your Horizons 2008 boasted the largest number of volunteers Girlstart has ever seen at EYH! Over 150 volunteers and almost 100 workshop presenters spent the day helping to make the program a huge success. Volunteers did everything from serve and eat lunch with the girls to inspire them with amazing math, science, engineering or technology-themed workshops! Our hat is off to all of you for making this program possible!
