Thanks to our fabulous graphic designer, Missi Jay, we have the cutest STEM signs outside the Girlstart STEM Center. Now when people drive by our building, they can see what STEM means (science, technology, engineering and math) and understand what we do at Girlstart.

Girlstart will host an expected 500 4th through 8th grade girls for its annual Girls In STEM Conference this Saturday. Held at the University of Texas at Austin, the day-long conference is designed for girls to learn about real-world careers from professional women from a spectrum of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, with sessions that incorporate a variety of hands-on experiments.

Austin, Texas (CNN) — “Historically, the tech industry has not been especially hospitable to women. In 2009, the U.S. Department of Labor released a list of the 20 leading occupations of employed women. None of them was in the technical field. That same year, only 3% of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies were women, according to the National Center for Women & Information Technology.”
