Summer Camp To Go TEAM!

Girlstart is truly lucky to have dedicated STEM CREW (Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Women) willing to travel the country to deliver meaningful, hands-on, STEM filled summer camps. These ladies have already been to Sunnyvale, CA, Lincoln, NE and are off to The Twin Cities next.
I asked each of them to tell me what they like about Girlstart Travel Summer Camp...
"I love Girlstart travel camp because we're introducing a new type of thinking to the girls at the Boys and Girls Clubs. Most have learned the basics to the lessons we teach and they are able to apply their learnings in a creative way. For example, they all knew about space and spaceships but then they were asked to create a moon lander that could hold two astronauts if dropped from a high distance. It's exciting seeing then light up as they use their imaginations to create things and also learning that their are people who do the activities daily for a job." - Carissa
"I enjoy Girlstart's Travel Summer Camp because it is a unique experience to bring something brand new to girls around the country. Many of them have never had an opportunity to participate in something like Girlstart and its exciting to see how their attitudes change as they learn that STEM really can be fun! Girlstart is taking a proactive approach in making girls aware of their potential to succeed in STEM as they become more exposed to it." - Kristi
"I love the Girlstart Travel Summer Camp because we get to teach girls outside the Austin area and Texas about STEM and what Girlstart is about. I love to see how the girls' enthusiasm about STEM activities grows throughout the week and to be able to show them that careers in the fields of science and engineering can be fun and interesting. It is so rewarding and exciting to get to the end of the week and hear the girls talk about what they want to be when they grow up and to know that Girlstart has influenced their decisions and dreams!" - Itzel
"I love that I get an opportunity to bring different experiences to young girls around the nation. Being able to make engineering and scientific concepts relatable to girls is so important because it prepares them for higher education and better future opportunities. Most importantly not only do they learn something about STEM but I learn from them as well." - Nayelli
