Wind Energy

This week at Mitchell Elementary, the ladies and I learned about yet another renewable energy resource, Wind! Throughout this semester we have discussed the differences between non-renewable and renewable resources, as well as the benefits of utilizing natural energy sources. Today was no different.

Each group was able to create their own wind turbine in hopes of propelling a toy car forward. While all the materials and turbines the girls used were the same, the methods for positioning their turbine and how to fan it were far from the same! Just like a civil engineer designing a wind farm, the girls had to do research to determine how to position their turbines to “catch” the most wind and propel their cars the fastest!
