During the 2007 – 2008 school year, the Project IT Girl program will focus on creating educational games as a way to introduce programming in an engaging and exciting way! IT Girls will continue to use technology to make a difference in the world through developing fun learning environments for children around the world. Through our programming curriculum, participants will be poised to excel in both high school and college introductory Computer Science courses.
Each IT Girl will create her own:
Participants will create and code educational games to present at a community-wide showcase. The best games will be showcased at conferences and festivals, and will be submitted to the One Laptop Per Child project for possible distribution to schools around the world!
Participants will form companies with their games as their product line in a competition to make as much “profit” in IT Girl Dollars as possible. Each company will create a booth at our Trade Show and pitch their games to customers for possible sales! The best and most profitable games will be showcased at conferences and festivals, and will be submitted to the One Laptop Per Child project for possible distribution to schools around the world!
Project IT Girl will use the Python programming language with the Pygame framework to learn programming concepts and to develop the games.
Look forward to seeing IT Girl Games showcased here by Summer 2008!
Play educational games now!
