The Project IT Girl Summer Academy will be held at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Sweetwater, Texas during the month of July. Sixty girls from the Austin area enrolled in Project IT Girl will use their expertise as video game developers to examine gender equity in gaming and computer science.
Girls will explore the power of blogging and other entertainment technology to effect social change. Participants will also plan and produce a virtual global awareness event in Teen Second Life. During the Summer Academy, girls will develop vital technical skills and learn project management and communication skills essential to their future careers.
