What do you want to do when you graduate?
I would love to become a school psychologist or teach high school psychology.

What are you excited about for this summer?
I am excited about working with kids at an organization that is such a fun place to work at. A bonus is that all my co-workers are super energetic and love what they do.

What is one of your favorite summer memories from when you were a kid?
When I was a kid, I would go to a camp in Arkansas for two weeks every summer. I have all my best childhood memories there- from ziplining to learning how to wake board. I can't pick one specific memory because they are all so great!

Hi everyone! Our final week at Girlstart was a blast! Instead of an experiment, this week was our showcase. We got to look back at the cool things we did this semester and set up some experiments for our families to see.

We put out five of our awesome models, and got to explain to our loved ones what we did in the Girlstart program. We talked again about canyon formation, landslides, fossils, landfills, and groundwater.

Lots of parents came by, and the girls were able to show their families around. We were very proud of what we had been doing, and I'm sure it showed!

It was our last week, but we'll be back in the fall. Hopefully we'll see you all again!

SIGMA-ALDRICH AWARDS GRANT TO GIRLSTART, SUPPORTING ITS NATIONALLY-RECOGNIZED SUMMER CAMP AND AFTER-SCHOOL STEM PROGRAM

(AUSTIN) – In order to help Girlstart in its mission to increase girls’ interest and engagement in STEM, Sigma-Aldrich today announced it is awarding Girlstart a $35,000 grant to support Girlstart’s innovative, nationally-recognized, informal STEM education programs.

The grant will help fund Girlstart’s summer camp and after school programs over the next year, including new programs for high-need Round Rock schools. Girlstart’s programs serve a diverse group of 4^th through 8^th grade girls in Central Texas as well as select communities throughout the United States via an ongoing summer camp initiative launched in 2011.
