The Girlfriends Power Circle is a philanthropic group of women who combine their resources annually to support Girlstart's mission. Each member contributes $1,000 or more annually. Girlstart's mission is to empower girls in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We accomplish this mission by developing innovative models and processes for teaching STEM, empowering girls to achieve in STEM education and pursue STEM careers, and feeding the national STEM workforce. Girlstart provides sound, effective and vanguard programming for girls in and out of the school day that directly reach girls, but also inform teachers and families as they seek to identify ways to engage girls in STEM subjects and careers. Our programs take place year-round at schools, at our Girlstart Technology Center, or at community partner locations. Since 1997, Girlstart has served over 20,000 girls and 5,500 teachers and families with school-based programs, workshops for teachers, summer camps, science career conferences and expos, large-scale science events for families, and more. Through partnerships with the National Science Foundation, the Texas Education Agency, UTEACH, UT-Austin, Texas State Technical College, and local school districts, Girlstart has been recognized as an exemplary STEM education organization. Girlstart is a leader in providing girls with real-world skills they need to compete in today's science and technology reliant workforce. As a member of the Girlfriends Power Circle, your name will be listed on the Girlstart website and in our online newsletter and annual report. The Girlfriends Power Circle member's names will also be highlighted at select special events throughout the year.
