Digital Detectives provides teaching strategies for inquiry based science instruction using digital microscopes.


Girlstart has incredible success in empowering girls in math, science, and technology. Girlstart's methods are useful in helping Texas' science teachers improve attitude and achievement in their classrooms.

Girlstart launched Digital Detectives in 2003, a professional development project designed to supply teachers with equipment and training for classroom science instruction. Funded by the Texas Education Agency, Girlstart is partnering with the Texas Regional Collaboratives to provide Digital Detectives programs throughout the state of Texas in 2006.

Girlstart is providing "Train the Trainer" sessions throughout the state of Texas for science teacher mentors. Registration is required and limited to certain providers and space. Contact Julie Shannan for more information about future trainings like Digital Detectives in your area!
